X is a show about living in Sweden today, with starting point in that Sweden has a hidden and often denied colonial and racist history. How Sweden has acted with indifference, condemned and excluded and mercilessly divided the people. We have exploited the country and taken us right to own people. Sami children did not attend ordinary schools until the 50’s. The last Swedish slave redeemed October 9, 1847. The actors had one modern outfit as a base, and on top of that they played different roles from our history. I made drawings and collages with mixed elements from our colonial history, and from that we brought those elements to the rehearsals and we developed the costumes together with the actors in workshops and rehearsals.
